23 year old and cannot ask a girl out

I am 23 and I have severe anxiety when it comes to asking a girl out. What can I do?
"Maureen" is a strange name for a young man who wants to ask a girl out. If you are inquiring about a same sex relationship the answer would be a bit different. If you happen to be the mother of a 23 year old asking this question I suggest very strongly that you educate yourself about how to faciltate independent functioning. The older the young man becomes the more the anxiety and potential for depression increases.
